 Terms and Conditions Alitalia
   
Reservations & Payment:
Bookings should be made at least 45 days prior the departure date. Deposit is required at the time of booking and reservation is not confirmed until deposit is received. Full payment must be received no later than 30 days prior to departure. A non-refundable late fee of $25 applies for bookings made within 21 days prior to the day of departure. Personal checks are not accepted; checks must be certified.
 
Deposits:   $100 per car
    $50 per person

    $300 per person

Changes/Revisions:
For each booking a non-refundable $25 fee will be charged for each change made, for all programs, up to seven (7) days prior to departure. Thereafter no changes can be made.

Surcharges:  
When transatlantic travel is not on Alitalia Airlines the following surcharges will apply:

$120 per person
$50 per person

Cancellations:
Italiatour reserves the right to cancel any reservation if payment is not received within 30 days before the departure date, is refused, cancelled, or dishonored. Cancellation fees apply to some types of air tickets and may involve forfeiture of all monies paid. Check with your travel agent or airline.

Cancellation Fees & Refunds:
Written cancellations received prior to 46 days from the departure date will be refunded in full less a $25 processing fee and other applicable fees.
Cancellations made thereafter are subjected to fees as follows:

  • Independent and City Paks
    45 to 30  days prior to departure  $100 per person
    29 to 7  days prior to departure  $125 per person
    days prior to departure  no refund
  • Escorted Tours
    45 to 30  days prior to departure  $100 per person
    29 to 7  days prior to departure  $350 per person
    days prior to departure  no refund
  • Car Rentals
    45 to 30  days prior to departure  $20 per car
    29 to 7  days prior to departure  $25 per car
    days prior to departure  no refund

Prices:
All tour prices are per person, and include Value Added Tax (VAT) in effect at the time of printing. All tour prices are based on rates (including foreign exchange rates) expected to be in effect at time of departure. They are subject to change. Tour prices include: charges for planning, operating and servicing of tour and constitute recommended retail prices. They are only valid if prepaid in the USA and round-trip transatlantic air travel is on Alitalia Airlines. All prices are in US Dollars.

Land Operator & Supplier:
All land services offered by Italiatour are operated by suppliers that are independently contracted with Italiatour! S.P.A. (hereinafter "Italiatour").
Italy Prelude, Portraits of Italy, European Overture, Italy Rhapsody, and Rome and Israel are sponsored by Italiatour and operated in conjunction with Gate 1 or Tourcrafters.

Not Included:
Local airport taxes, passport and visa fees, laundry, telephone calls, wine, liquors, mineral water and after-dinner coffee or tea, meals not included in itinerary, sightseeing or services other than those specifically mentioned, tips to tour escorts and motorcoach drivers when touring, local city guides, items of a personal nature, excess baggage and any fuel surcharge increases that may apply.

Cancellation of Air:
Cancellation fees apply to some types of air tickets and may involve forfeiture of all monies paid. Check with your travel agent or airline.

Baggage:
Limited to maximum of two pieces of luggage and one carry on bag. The maximum linear dimensions (length plus width plus height) of each bag must not exceed 62" and 70 lbs. Baggage carried in the cabin must be stowed under the seat and must not exceed 8" by 16" by 21" and 11 lbs. Due to limited motorcoach capacity, Escorted Tours allow only one piece of luggage not to exceed 62" and 70 lbs. and one carry on bag per person not to exceed 8" by 16" by 21" and 11 lbs.

Itinerary Variations:
Italiatour reserves the right to vary itineraries and substitute hotels prior to departure and en route. During national and local holidays, facilities such as museums, theaters, sightseeing tours, and shopping may be limited. In such instances, whenever possible, adjustments may be made to minimize your inconvenience. However, if your enjoyment might be diminished by such minor limitations, please check with the Italian Government Travel Office before selecting a departure date.

Transfers:
Transfers between airports, rail stations, hotels and vice-versa are included only as specified in each program. Transfers may be forfeited if there are any deviations on the itinerary.
Tour Escorts/Guides:
Some tours may be conducted by multilingual escorts and may include passengers speaking other languages. Longer tours may warrant escorts to be substituted during the tour.

Meals:
As provided in each program. Continental breakfast consists of coffee, tea, rolls, butter and jam.

Hotels:
All hotels are rated by the Italian Government. Air conditioning and heating are not standard in many hotels abroad and are not guaranteed. Some hotels may charge a supplement for air-conditioning upon check in. It may occur that the allotment of rooms in some hotels may be exhausted at the time of booking. In this case, Italiatour will try to obtain alternate accommodations in the same category. If the alternate hotel is confirmed at a supplement and is not acceptable to the passenger(s), Italiatour will refund all deposits, provided passengers' written cancellation is received within ten (10) days of Italiatour's notification of this price increase.

Accommodations:
Accommodations are based on two persons sharing a twin-bedded room with private bath or shower. Single rooms, while assuring privacy, are small and not as well situated as double rooms. Triple rooms generally consist of normal twin-bedded accommodations with a cot or rollaway for the third tour participant. This may not be comfortable for three adults.

Claims:
No claim will be considered and no action will lie against Italiatour unless typewritten notice of claim is received by Italiatour within 30 days of the completed tour. No refund will be given for unused services or any portion of the tour.

Responsibility:
The responsibility of Italiatour as the tour operator and/or its agents is limited. They act only as agents for the passenger in regards to travel, whether by aircraft, motorcoach, private car, railroad or any other conveyance, and assume no liability for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay or irregularity which may be occasioned either by reason of defect through the acts of God, dangers incident to sea, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of governments or other authorities de jure or de facto, wars, whether declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, theft, pilferage, epidemics, quarantines, medical or customs regulations, or from any causes beyond Italitatour's control, or arising from its own negligence, or from any loss or damage resulting from improper passports, visas, or other documents. Italiatour has the right to decline to accept or to retain any tour passenger should such persons health or general deportment impede the operation of the tour to the detriment of the other passengers. Tour services including, but not limited to, carriage by land, carriage by sea, carriage by air, guide service, hotel accommodations, restaurants and all services, are furnished by contractors who are independent and do not act for, or on behalf of, Italiatour and Italiatour is not responsible for any injuries or damages arising from any negligence of those independent contractors. The acceptance of tickets and vouchers by the participant or by his assignee(s) shall be deemed to be acceptance by such person(s) of the above conditions and an acknowledgment and agreement by such person(s) that participating air carriers shall not be liable for any portions of the tour other than air transportation. The contract of carriage (i.e. passenger ticket) issued by Alitalia Airlines or other participating air carrier shall constitute the sole supplement by or subjected to its duly filed tariffs and any applicable international and/or domestic laws and regulations.

Handicapped Passengers:
Italiatour will make reasonable effort to accommodate handicapped participants, depending on the nature and extent of their disabilities. Such tour participants must advise Italiatour at the time of booking of any special assistance such passengers may require. Italiatour reserves the right to decline acceptance of such participants, require such participants to be accompanied by a suitable attendant, as the case may require, should Italiatour determine that the safety of the handicapped participants or other tour participants can not be reasonably accommodated. Italiatour notes that many participating hotels, railroads, bus lines, foreign flag carriers, etc. are exempt from U.S. laws and regulations regarding handicapped persons and Italiatour, therefore, makes no representations that these entities can reasonably accommodate (or will accommodate) handicapped tour participants. Handicapped persons who intend on participating on a given tour are required to check with their travel agent and the air carrier directly in order to determine the policies of the above mentioned entities with respect to handicapped persons.
